Somebody S2 E1: Welcome to the some-stay

Somebody is back for season 2! If you haven’t watched Season 1, I strongly recommend it. Somebody is a reality show on Mnet that brings together 10 dancers of various genres to dance with each other – and possible form love connections on the way. We know from Season 1 that couples can form (yay Joori and Seung Hyuk) so we are going into this with a positive attitude! The first episode is a intro into each dancer. They give a short intro and actually give a short dance in front of them. Hye Soo got the most first impression votes. Her genre is Korean Modern Dance. It’s no mystery that she got the most attention as she gives off the sweet, cute lovely vibes all at once. She’s very elegant in her dances as she twirls to IU’s Through the Night. And there are definitely at least two guys that fall for her hard with these moves. Yena is the next to go. Initially, the response from the viewers were pretty negative. She revealed …

Love Catcher S2 E7: Love lines strengthen

Before you get into episode 3, remember to read about episode 1 here and episode 2 here and episode 3 here and episode 4 here and episode 5 here and episode 6 here! Everyone looks like they’ve had a rough night. Just to recap, they had to send two roommates home the night before. But can someone tell me why Chan Woo has to wear a suit to breakfast? Today’s mission has given an upper hand to the girls: they have to pick two guys they want to go on a date with. The flipside is that the guys pick one person from their list. It seems like Sae Ra is pretty set. She only has her eyes on Jung Jin (and vice versa). The girls choose as follows (along with who the guys picked): Sae Ra: Jung Jin and Chan Woo So Young: In Ook and Yeon Woo Yeon Seo: In Ook and Yeon Woo Ga Bin: In Ook and Chan Woo This episode gives you the feels by starting off with Jung Jin and Sae Ra first. They’re definitely googly eyes for …

Love Catcher S2 E6: The most suspicious get eliminated

Before you get into episode 3, remember to read about episode 1 here and episode 2 here and episode 3 here and episode 4 here and episode 5 here! It’s been a long time coming and definitely overdue but here are the recaps and my thoughts of the last three episodes of this nail-biting reality show! We ended the last episode with Chan Woo trying to secretly ask Ga Bin on a date in front of everyone but she didn’t buy it. And we start this episode with Yeon Woo doing Min Suk’s hair as they get ready for the last couple’s challenge: doll making. So Young is finally coupled with In Ook. She has been eyeing him since the first meeting and is definitely excited about the date! Young Seo and Chan Woo have a heart-to-heart on the car ride to their date. Yeong Seo worries that she didn’t express herself enough and Chan Woo worries that the person he likes is slowly pushing themselves away. When everyone arrives at the cafe, the first scene is finger curling. So Young acts …

Love Catcher S2 E5: Knocking on the wrong door

Before you get into episode 3, remember to read about episode 1 here and episode 2 here and episode 3 here and episode 4 here! So to recap from last episode, the love triangle is now a love square with Ga Bin in the middle, Chae Rang is being oddly sneaky, and Jung Jin and Sae Ra are still hinting at their interest in each other. The episode starts off with tension between Yeon Woo and In Ook. Now if you remember Yeon Woo went on a date with Ga Bin the day before. But if I’m going to be honest here, the celebrity cast was only focused on how Yeon Woo was shirtless (again). Then it quickly jumps to the kitchen where there are hearts flying around Jung Jin and Sae Ra. As the only ones awake, they cook breakfast together – feeding each other, staring at each other. These two are a definite couple, whether money or love. There’s another palpable tension in the girls’ room. Chae Rang, going into the secret room …

Love Catcher S2 E4: The love triangle becomes a love square

Spoiler alert: never underestimate the youngest of the group. Before you get into episode 3, remember to read about episode 1 here and episode 2 here and episode 3 here! Chae Rang and In Ook scheduled a breakfast-making date the day before, making this the first time these two are alone together. Chae Rang gets ready at 8:30 am, and I mean this girl is full makeup ready with some fancy dangle earrings. The thing is, In Ook forgets and goes jogging with two other guys. Disappointed, she comes back to the girls’ side of the house and then Sae Ra with the cute save “How can people go running this early?” Again, my new girl crush. To our surprise (or not), when In Ook comes back he doesn’t even remember he made such plans. Lol. Leave it to the sweet guys Jung Jin and Chan Woo to the rescue with helping Chae Rang for breakfast. Is there a theme that people follow every day? I mean, these guys are head to toe identical in …

Love Catcher S2 E3: The pool of jealousy

Spoiler alert: Min Seok’s identity will be revealed in this review! Before you get into episode 3, remember to read about episode 1 here and episode 2 here! Tensions start to rise as love lines start to form. But before we get into that, can we get an amen to the men who took off their shirts in this episode? The first one is Yeon Woo. Let’s just say, never underestimate the youngest of the bunch! So Young expresses to Ga Bin that she has an interest in In Ook, and Ga Bin reveals that she feels the same but also is confused because she also is interested in Chan Woo. But zoom out, and you’ll see that while they’re talking, Chae Rang is in front of them “looking in the mirror” but actually secretly snitching on the other two girls. Goodness, I called it from the beginning that this girl is all about being a Money Catcher. Side note, as much as I am not a huge fan of Chae Rang, her earrings are …

X1 Flash Part 2: TMI news and the debut stage

The boys have officially made their debut! But before we get to that, the members did something called ‘TMI News’ where they revealed some of the behind the scenes moments from their pre-debut days. Here are the 11 moments you missed: 1. The members were first afraid of Han Gyul. The jean jacket and the up do hair (when he initially arrived for Produce X 101) might have given the bad boy vibe initially but the other boys quickly learned that in fact, he was the sweetest of them all! 2. The cuteness battle between Dong Pyo and Hyunh Jun begins. They are deemed as ‘rivals’ for the member with the most aegyo. In the Korean culture, aegyo or 애교 refers to a cute display of affection. Who do you think is the winner? 3. He may cute but is he clean? The other members reveal some news that may be surprising to ONE ITs – Dong Pyo does not like to shower! He tells Yo Han that he washes after him and that’s why …

Love Catcher S2 E2: The love triangles begin to form

Pop quiz: one of these guests worked at Hong Suk Chun’s cafe before the show. So it’s day 2 (literally) for these contestants and today’s date involves a wedding photo shoot. I mean, I know the producers want to break the ice for them early on but I feel like some of the girls seem uncomfortable getting this close too soon. Nevertheless, it does the job! If you haven’t watched episode two, I warned you – you should stop here!Or go read about Episode 1 to get you up to speed! The show begins on a zoom-in on Chan Woo’s back muscles as he’s swimming in the infinity pool when everyone is sleeping. To recap from the voting night before, he did not get any votes from the girls. It almost seems like this scene symbolizes a swim of rage?! After he finishes swimming, he goes upstairs to get ready for his breakfast-making date with Ga Bin, but lo and behold In Ook is already in the dressing room – fiercely staring Chan Woo down …

X1 Flash Part 1: Sweat and tears make a debut?

The saga continues for the eleven members who made the final line-up of Produce X 101. A two-part reality series called X1 Flash (to promote their upcoming release of the title song, ‘Flash’) aired this week. It highlights some of the events leading up to their debut showcase on August 27 in Gocheok Sky Dome, the same place Wanna One debuted two years ago. Here are some of my 11 highlights (ha, get it) from this first episode! 1. Why do you have to take the members to a dark, scary deserted building with no walls for their interviews? Not only does this creepy place have zero security whatsoever but the members get interviewed through an old TV screen. Creepy much? 2. The intro is very solemn. To refresh your memory, immediately after the final episode of Produce X 101, news outlets reported that the voting system was rigged. There were actually concerns and lots of doubt that this group would get to debut because of what the Mnet producers might have caused. It is incredibly sad …
